Beans & Brews Coffeehouse has been around since 1993, when the Laramie family opened shop next to Salt Lake City’s beloved hangout, Liberty Park. The family refined the process of high-altitude roasting, which required special tweaks just like high-altitude baking. They soon got the process just right, and they built a reputation for uniquely smooth coffee in a friendly neighborhood setting. At Beans & Brews—or “Beans,” as friends call us for short, we love greeting regulars with their favorite drinks, made just the way they like ‘em. And we dig getting to know newcomers and welcoming them to the Beans community. Come in for a cup, alone or with a friend, and make yourself at home. We don’t just brew coffee. We brew community. When you visit Beans & Brews, you’re taking part in something bigger. Delicious drinks, locally roasted beans, and people who love giving back to the community we share. Just let us know how we can make your day a little brighter—whether it’s adding extra whipped cream or donating a gift basket to your little-league fundraiser. Cheers, and stop by soon.Your Beans community

“Super-Premium" Quality Ice Cream
First and foremost Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream serves Super-Premium quality ice cream and drinking chocolate products. Brooker’s distinguishes itself by delivering unparalleled, super-premium quality ice cream, well above the standard found at grocery stores, all college creameries, and most other ice cream parlors. The ice cream we make and serve at Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream is “Super-Premium,” which is the highest FDA quality ranking. The FDA does not have a higher quality ranking than that of Brooker’s ice cream. The FDA’s Super-Premium quality ranking is determined by the highest level of cream for creamy texture, lowest level of air for density, and highest quality level of ingredients. We make all of our own ice cream using our proprietary recipes which utilize real vanillas, real chocolates, real fruits, and other top level ingredients.Additionally, Brooker’s only uses fine quality chocolates, cocoa powders, and other flavor ingredients to make its Early American Hot Drinking Chocolate. The drink called ‘hot chocolate’ in the United States today is a much thinner, weaker and watery drink made from artificial powders rather than chocolate like what was used by the Founding Fathers and their contemporaries. Brooker’s Founding Flavors Early American Hot Drinking Chocolate enables people to enjoy the thicker, richer chocolate drink that the Founding Fathers loved so much. Brooker’s serves the hot chocolate drink that the Continental Congress included in the rations of America’s Revolutionary War Soldiers, that Benjamin Franklin sold at his print shop, and that Martha Washington served dignitaries at the presidential residence in New York City.

The year was 1997. The place, a little town in southern Utah called St. George. A lovely couple named Steve and Patricia Stanley started a restaurant called Cafe Rio Mexican Grill. Cafe Rio served authentic dishes derived from inspired recipes and traditional cooking of Northern Mexico’s Rio Grande region, Southern Texas, and New Mexico. Central to every bite was the belief that every ingredient must be fresh and made fresh to order. And you know what? People loved it. They couldn’t get enough of it. So much so, that one restaurant became six. In 2004, these six little restaurants caught the attention of a fine gentleman named Bob Nilsen. He purchased Cafe Rio from the Stanleys with the idea of spreading the love of making this fresh Mexican food to everyone in and around Utah and beyond. He made sure to keep the mantra of “fresh food, made fresh” at the very core of the brand. No freezers. No microwaves. Nothing premade. Mr. Nilsen has since moved on, and a new team of quality-obsessed leaders has taken the wheel. To this day, our staff still begins each day, bright and early, hand-squeezing limes, hand-scooping avocados, chopping fresh vegetables, simmering sauces, and preparing the chef-inspired recipes our fans have come to love. We’re realizing the dream of spreading the love of Cafe Rio Mexican Grill around Utah and beyond. Check out our locations page to find a Cafe Rio near you.

In pursuit of a new standard for freshness, they began with daily-baked buns from a local bakery and grilled them alongside perfectly seasoned beef until they were warm and toasty. They sourced fresh California produce for the ripest tomatoes and leafiest lettuce available. And, of course, they installed a stainless steel char broiler with a cast-iron grill designed to sear smoky flavors into every burger placed upon its fiery grates. Once they earned a reputation for serving the tastiest burgers on the coast, the brothers turned their attention to other beach-inspired recipes—like a fresh-grilled albacore sandwich made with line-caught tuna; a chicken sandwich topped with crisp bacon and velvety avocado; and crisp salads made to order.
